How to Throw a Successful Company Holiday Party with these Five Tips!

It's that time of year again where fall is upon us and the Holidays will be here before we know it! With that being said, holiday party planning is also upon us! Throwing a company party can be a lot of fun if handled properly. Of course, every office is different, and there is no right or wrong way to tackle a holiday party, what is important is sticking to your budget and doing what works best for your employees in your office environment.

Here are some tips & tricks to follow if you are feeling the pressures of throwing a memorable event:

1) Start Early: By allowing yourself enough time to lock in a date and booking a venue earlier, this will not only decrease any stress associated with this portion of your planning, but it will also give you more options.

2) Plan an Activity: It can be fun for fellow employees to mix it up and plan an interactive activity your co-workers can enjoy. Depending on your companies size, you can consider a venue with arcade games, bowling or galleries which will keep your guests entertained. Anything that veers away from the standard formal sit down environment. For those of you in Rochester, NY this could be a place such as the Museum of Play or Rochester Museum and Science Center.

3) Having a Wide Variety of Food: No matter what type of party you intent to throw, it is essential to take into account everyone's dietary restrictions. This would include a wide range of food options for vegetarians, vegans, healthy or picky eaters or non-drinkers versus drinkers. There is nothing worse than leaving a party hungry!

4) Take a Vote: Why not ask those attending what they want to do?! You maybe surprised bu their response and find they want the opportunity to dress up or spend their time volunteering rather than sitting in a bar drinking. Putting it on the employees whom you are trying to please can at least give the organizing committee a series of ideas. Granted you can't please everyone, but at least you can attempt to satisfy a majority of your team.

5) Hold it During Office Hours: Not everyone has time to attend a formal gala outside of their work hours, so what better way to show gratitude to your team than allowing them to knock off work early and enjoy an in-office celebration. It can be as formal or informal as you'd like; but either way it allows your employees to mingle in a less formal environment with no added pressure.

Whether you have a large amount of time or you've waited until the last minute for holiday party planning, with these simple tips, you can put together an enjoyable, office appropriate celebration for your fellow employees with all of the stress.
